Late Gatti Header Denies Milan Victory in Turin
Federico Gatti came off the bench to rescue a 1-1 draw for Juventus against AC Milan on Sunday, powering home an injury-time header to keep both sides unbeaten early in the Serie A season.
The result leaves AS Roma and Inter Milan as the only teams holding perfect records after three matches.
Late Drama at the Allianz Stadium
Juventus created the clearer chances throughout the evening, with Francisco Conceicao testing Milan keeper Mike Maignan before rattling the post early in the second half.
Despite Juve's control, Milan opened the scoring against the run of play in the 68th minute. After Juve forward Randal Kolo Muani went down pleading for a foul, Milan broke quickly on the counter. Teenager Alphadjo Cisse took a pass from Samuel Chukwueze, cut inside, and swept a low shot past Guglielmo Vicario with Milan’s first shot on target.
Juventus threw bodies forward in response, handing a debut to deadline-day loan signing Nick Woltemade. The pressure paid off deep into stoppage time when Gatti met Teun Koopmeiners' set-piece, bouncing a header off the crossbar and into the net.
Coaches Weigh In
Speaking after the whistle, Milan boss Ruben Amorim admitted his team struggled to hold onto the ball, noting that neither side truly deserved to walk away with three points.
Juve manager Luciano Spalletti brushed off criticism of striker Kolo Muani, who is still looking for his first goal back at the club. Spalletti backed the France international, confirming he plans to stick with him as his lead attacker for the rest of the season.
